Old Fashioned Oatmeal

Oatmeal is such a simple breakfast, but it is so delicious!  It is so quick to make in the microwave that I sometimes forget how much better it is over the stove.  One of my (many) favorite parts of the weekend is having the time to make delicious oatmeal for breakfast!

Ingredients:

2 cups water

1 cup old fashioned oats

kiwi

raspberries

pecans

sunflower seeds

almond milk

Directions:

  • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Add 1 cup old fashioned oats and reduce to low heat.
  • Simmer for 10 – 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Divide between 2 bowls.
  • Top with fruit, nuts, seeds, and almond milk.
  • Enjoy!

Notes:

It is very tempting to put your water and oats together in the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil to save time, but don’t do it!  I don’t know why, but it is SO much better when you boil the water first AND THEN add the oats!

With all the delicious fruit, you definitely don’t need honey or brown sugar.  This oatmeal is very flavorful!
